With a new movie and album coming out, Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky has stepped back into the forefront contrary to his previously MIA status. At a recent Tribeca Film Festival event, the A$AP artist took part in the Elliot Wilson-hosted #CRWN series. Touching on various topics, Rocky talked about getting permission from Mos Def for his newest alias, where he gets his fake gold chains, and more. Towards the end of the interview, the rapper even brought up fellow A$AP Mob members A$AP Nast and A$AP Twelvy on stage to speak on the passing of A$AP Yams. The Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 artist releases his new album, A.L.L.A (At.Long.Last.A$AP) May 12th.

Not only do A$AP Rocky and A$AP Nast have projects on the way, but the second star to blossom from the A$AP Mob, A$AP Ferg, is also ready to release new material. The Trap Lord recently sat down with XXL to talk about the status of his sophomore album. “It’s almost done,” he said. ” I’m just tweaking it right now. I just want to get it in with a couple of more producers that I love, and it seems like the further I get into it I’m just trying to squeeze more magic out of it. So I think I’m just gonna keep going until the label tells me I can’t go on anymore, honestly.”

When asked about the vibe of the album, Ferg said, “I can definitely tell you it’s going to be crazy and it’s the new Ferg; it’s not A$AP Ferg, it’s not Trap Lord, it’s Ferg and I’m giving my all and I’m going in. I’m going in deep, like I’m telling true stories and it’s gonna be crazy.”

Yesterday, the young, New York boom-bap revivalist known as Joey Bada$$ released a video for his Basquiat produced single, “Christ Conscious.” The single, along with “Big Dusty” will be included on his forthcoming LP, B4DA$$. The M-I-E directed video puts a modern twist on classic 90s boom-bap videos, particularly Big L’s “Put it On” video from 1995. In the video, Joey waves his arms around, sports a bucket hat, Timberlands and a New York hockey jersey, keeping the tradition of New York swagger typified by Big L and more recently A$AP Nast. There are however, subtle differences between the “Christ Conscious” video and those aforementioned. As he walks through the streets of Brooklyn, rectilinear video effects glimmer in the background. He also casually get’s seemingly possessed and levitated into the sky as the song fades. Watch the video below.

Solo visuals from A$AP Ant and A$AP Nast have been long overdue. While they were out in Japan a while back, both of them filmed solo visuals and it was no better way to release them, but together. Ant served up a video for his solo track off the A$AP Mob tape, Lord$ Never Worry, and now Nast hit us with a new track that is very ’90s influenced. Now that we have visuals from the two, could solo projects be approaching? We’ll just have to see. Until then, check out “The Way It Go” and “Trillmatic” below.
