For Thanksgiving, TDE‘s Jay Rock gave his NYC fans a taste of the 90059 life at SOB’s.

Hosted by Lowkey of You Heard That New, the packed show kicked off with a DJ set from MekDot of 2Dopeboyz.

New York trio, Trial & Era, opened the show and got the mellow crowd hype while performing a slew of their tracks, including the anthem “Ra-Ta-Ta-Ta.”

After their set, it wasn’t long before the man of the hour hit the stage.

The crowd rapped right along with Jay Rock as he performed tracks off of 90059, including “Easy Bake”, “Gumbo”, and “The Ways.”

The Watts rapper closed out the show with his “Vice City” verse. Even TDE’s first lady, SZA stopped by to show Jay Rock some love.

All in all, the 90059 tour was the perfect way to kickoff the holiday and end Jay Rock’s mini tour run.

TDE’s Jay Rock gives us a behind the scenes look at the inspiration behind his long awaited album, “90059.” With a Sept. 11th digital release date ahead of him, the Watts’ native gives fans an inside look at his hometown. Though Jay Rock has been busy touring and promoting “90059,” he’s also been grinding in the studio.  In the brief documentary, Rock says that he has “4 or 5 albums of perfect material” ready. Last night before a 100+ crowd, TDE’s own, Jay Rock unveiled his sophomore album 90059 at the New York staple, Alife. Moderated by veteran journalist Rob Markman, Jay Rock spoke on his musical influences, inspiration behind the project, and the overall creative process. The Cali native’s latest effort has been four years in the making since his debut back in 2011. However, with a tracklist consisting of features from Kendrick Lamar, Black Hippy, SZA and many more 90059 will prove to be worth the wait.

Singles such as “Gumbo” and “Money Trees Duece” have been gaining traction in recent weeks but there are several other standout tracks that are sure to guarantee an eargasm or two. The first being “Telegram” a cryptic love song with a trance-like melody featuring the vocal stylings of Lance Skiiwalker. Rock was inspired to pen the song after dabbling in a relationship with an insecure woman. “Sometimes that kind of relationship knocks a n-gga off his hustle,” Rock explained to Markman.

Then there’s “Vice City” a striking contrast to “Telegram” but equally pleasing bass heavy track that features the onslaught bars of K. Dot, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. The Cardo production is the eighth track off of the album and very much aligned with today’s trap phenomena – minus the lack of substance.

Although, Jay Rock has taken an unconventional approach with the release strategy for his sophomore project 90059 is slated to drop as early as next week. According to Best Buy’s website, 90059 will be available for purchase on Sept. 11 with digital copies being made available next Friday, Sept. 4.  90059 can also be pre-ordered on iTunes today.
