Al Rogers Jr. makes his own version of  Inc.’s “The Place” and builds upon theirs, furnishing it with brief descriptions of his life’s ups and downs– mentioning the loss of a friend to an unwavering pill addiction. We haven’t  heard much from Al since his first project in 2012, but it seems as though this offering  serves as a precursor to his impending project, Baby Al.

Listeners who have heard the distinctive melodic funk of “The Place” before may recognize it from the Grand Theft Auto V Soundtrack. The L.A. based brothers are signed to British indie label 4AD, also home to SpaceGhostPurrp and Grimes. Listen to Al‘s rendition below.

SpaceGhostPurrp just dried the ink on an album deal with UK-based label 4AD records. He will be joining indie-rockers Bon Iver and Iron & Wine on his new label.
