Rick Ross just won’t quit. When his single “Hustlin'” rocked the scene in 2006, nobody would’ve believed this big guy from Miami would be in the high standing position he is now. Sure, it was an incredible track but did you imagine he would create his own label, having success with the most unlikely of rappers? While pushing the careers of Wale, Stalley, Meek Mill, and more on his Maybach Music imprint he’s been building the buzz for his highly anticipated 5th solo album, God Forgives I Don’t, slated for a July 31st release

Now, the self-proclaimed boss gathers two of the rap games most enterprising artists to talk that money shit over a live instrumentation from producer Jake One (50 Cent, De La Soul, Rakim), snatching the track title from a similar Slim Thug release in 2005 featuring Bun B and T.I., also dubbed “3 Kings.”

Jay-z’s verse signals the brink of another contract with Live Nation. He arrogantly spits, “I ran through that buck-fifty Live Nation fronted me/ They workin’ on another deal, they talkin’ 250/ I’m holdin’ out for three/ Two-seventy-five and I just might agree.” The proud father also mentions his daughter Blu Ivy a couple times rhyming, “”Millions on the wall in all my rooms/ Niggaas couldn’t fuck with my daughter’s room.” It’s pretty obvious no emcee talks money shit like Hov does.

While, the track does make hip-hop mouths water, we’ve seen it before. Lyrically it’s ominous, but do we really feel like hearing this cliche concept over and over again? Nonetheless, it is inspiring to see the moves Jay-z, Rick Ross, and Dr. Dre are making in and outside of hip-hop. Tracks like this are a realization that hip-hop is a far cry from it’s humble beginnings and the fact that the culture continues to even odds for African-Americans that may have not had those opportunities . Bittersweet, fa sho.
