#PeepTheVisual – City- “100” (Official Music Video)

‏Toronto-based Hip Hop artist City whose upbringing is brought center stage in his music. Overcoming an environment and neighborhood with a past plagued by socio-political failures of the system, City’s music is bleak and ominous. It encompasses themes of the grind and the struggle of both his family and his peers, and leans into what it truly means to be street conscious in 2020 and beyond. He recently released his visual “100” to a paint a picture.

Sonically, his beats are equally as dark, cinematically provocative with its fair share of moody atmospherics, tough grooves and wittiness. While he is intent on carving out his own sound, his music echoes influences from artists that have inspired him along the way — Fabolous, Vybez Kartel, Drake and 50 Cent’s G-Unit.

City’s foray into music began as early as 15. He’s always been fascinated with music and draws influence from both his upbringing in school home and church. The fire in his belly to create stems from unjust altercations with the police as a kid, and he channels that release through music. Above all, he is driven to achieve his goals.

The Game picked the perfect time to drop the video to his collab with Drake due to the fact that the Toronto native’s name is everywhere right now. In the video, the two take us on a trip around Compton while talking that real. The Documentary 2 is set to drop by the end of the year, check the visuals out below.

The Game Feat. Drake – “100”

The Game connects with Drake for a surprise loosie, “100.” It’s to be expected that when Drizzy graces a record it’s replay value and longevity are rarely in question, but add two fire verses from The Game and you have a piece that will undoubtably last all summer. The Cardo and Johnny Juliano produced “100” captures the West Coast energy, while Drake’s softer, melodic hook (go figure) adds that signature OVO touch of gold. As the first coveted release from The Game’s pending “Documentary 2,” it looks like this album will add to the legacy and greatness of it’s predecessor.
