Robbie: Hello how are you feeling today and What have you been up to today?

Tommy: I’m great, thanks. I’m currently working on upcoming Tombogo product releases, sample projects, and filling orders; the grind don’t stop!

Robbie: The prestigious NYFW may have passed But would you mind telling us about your recent NYFW experience and Overall what has been your favorite NYFW experience and why?

Tommy: I recently had my first NYFW Presentation. The show was treated as an interactive look book photoshoot, allowing attendees to take their best shots of the models. Having just moved to New York a few months prior, I didn’t realize how many people really show out for fashion week…that night I found out lol. I rented a gallery for the presentation, and the space packed up quick making for a hectic, but really exciting night. There was nothing but good energy in the gallery and I really appreciated how everyone that came through had a keen eye for details of the Presentation. There were people analyzing the show in ways even I hadn’t considered, so it was really interesting to hear everyone’s dialogue on the Presentation—much more fulfilling than Instagram comments haha. The best part of having the NYFW Presentation though were all the new faces I got to work with, from the models to photographers, videographers and press. I’m still lowkey new to New York, so it was sick to connect with a bunch of like-minded creatives from all over the city and work on this show together.

Robbie: The Tombogo brand has been around for a few years and continues to grow but from the start who or what were some of the things that inspired you to initially start doing designs and customizing your own pieces.

Tommy: I’ve gone through a few phases of designing pieces that have to lead me to where I’m at now. Skateboard brands with cool logos like Spitfire, Element, etc. originally inspired me as a kid to start screen-printing graphic/logo t-shirts. As time went on though, printing t-shirts became more and more accessible, and I knew I had to step it up. In 2017 I was blessed with an opportunity to travel to Japan, Italy, and Mexico City all in one year.

Throughout my travels, I took note of various designers, products, and shops that inspired me to define Tombogo as a brand that I could hold in the same regards. That same year I started designing cut and sew pieces, which eventually lead to completely rebranding Tombogo, and updating the brand’s aesthetic and style to match the new level of product that I was making.

Robbie: As a creative what is the process like for when you create and finish a new piece and want to premiere How do you go about the unveiling of a new item? Also, what would you say has been your favorite item and why?

Tommy: The goal in premiering a new product typically is to communicate the product’s unique features, functions and/or details. Functionality is a big theme in my designs, so illustrating the utility is important, and it also doubles as entertaining content to watch. My favorite product changes every drop haha…so Ima have to say the LED Scouter Glasses. The LED Scouters started as just a small summer project, but ended up damn near changing my life, and connecting me with J Balvin along with Bad Bunny who wore the glasses at the VMAs.

Robbie: At the beginning What were the steps you took to start Tombogo and what advice would you give to anyone young designers looking to launch their own brand? What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned about branding and making a name for yourself?

Tommy: When I started Tombogo I was resourceful as possible. I built my own screen print press, printed my own shirts, etc. Its important to understand the process of creating your product, not to mention you’ll save money if you do it yourself! I tell everyone that’s asked me ‘how to start a brand’ to be as self-sufficient as possible and use what’s in your means to get started. The more you do, the more you’ll learn, the more you’ll grow.

Robbie: How much influence would you say Hip-Hop has on you and your brand as a whole and what are you listening to as of recently?

Tommy: Hip Hop, in general, has always gone hand in hand with fashion. All my pop-ups back in the day always featured performances by Bay Area rappers and DJs. I had artists like Guapdad 4000 and Larry June, performing at the Tombogo popups before they were as popular as they are today–we were all coming up together. The dynamic between music, specifically hip hop and fashion definitely laid out the foundation for Tombogo and helped me find my style and audience. If we’re talking hip hop I’ve been on this new IDK album ‘Is he Real’, and that Bosslife Big Spence ‘The Life Chose Me’. Fun fact, Spence made his DJ debut back in the day at one of the first Tombogo popups*

Robbie What can we look forward to seeing from you as we close out 2019 onto 2020?

Tommy: Man, I can’t even speak on it but stay tuned.

Deadstation Productions is a talented visual artist moving forward by using his outstanding ability of structure as a versatile videographer out of Long Island New York.

DP, video credits range from new artist onto established and notable artist such as Chief Keef, Rae Sreummurd, Squidnice Famous Dex and the list continues to grow but as of today I wanted to highligh this Videographer for his latest production Space Music, Vol 1. Deadstation brings together Twelve songs from various artist and producers.

Deadstation Productions artwork and creativity shines bright and we look forward to see what more this talented artist will showcase but here and now get familiar with this hard working artist and his friends.

Below I had the chance to speak with Deadstation & Jusstheloyal about Space Music, Vol 1

DeadStastion Productions

”When it comes to making videos my main focus is to make the artist look bigger than life. If you’re watching any sort of Deadstation visual think of it as a reality enhancer with good & fun vibes throughout… Space Music Vol.1 is a collection of music between a couple of the artists I’ve worked with. I always thought it was cool when producers made projects and such with artists they have worked with… I thought it would be dope if I experimented and tried to do the same thing with the people I worked with. So far the feedback has been amazing and I’m totally grateful for all the amazing people who believed in being apart of my vision. Expect to see a lot more musical projects down the line!”

My first introduction to Deadstation came through the emerging artist Jusstheloyal and his catchy single Mad Mad”

Jusstheloyal

While Writing MadMad i really kept thinking about everyone who doubted me and I decided to send them a message with a Song! Its a instant favorite of mine and i was planning on dropping it as a filler for an Album or Ep with my Producer Lord Casso but My friend and Videographer Deadstation decided to add it to first Mixtape Series “Space Music Vol. 1” as the intro. So we also linked up for the Visuals to bring it life”.

Big Narco 2 is the follow up to Dro Fe’s Big Narco project released in 2018 and since that time many things have happened in Dro Fe’s life but as of today Dro Fe is using his music to give listeners a front row seat into his private life, from the lost of his close friend onto his battle with cancer onto his family life Dro Fe puts it all out in the open. Overall this project is unlike any other release from the Texas native so here and now get I suggest you get familiar with this Texas native.

Dro Fe spoke with me about what it means to him to keep things authentic.

It’s a lot of music artists that are tasking the trap but never earned any stripes or even earned boss status before they started rapping, I like to think I’m the last of the breed of people who really put in work in the trap and really came up out the trap. A lot of these rappers were boring with clothes from their producers or depending on car packages from clothing companies, I could name you a few but it’s not really my business to mention. Instead of calling them out imma get money: Big Narco 2

Today’s just been the usual daddy duties, and spending time with the family. It’s always good to find a balance between business and your personal life, you know?

Robbie: Here and Now it’s 2019 and you’ve come a long way from your start in 7th grade so now in 2019 what are some of things you’ve continued to do to create that raw feel for you like it’s the beginning?

6tusk: Well, it’s always felt like the beginning in some ways. I’m still independent, and I still engineer myself. I’ve always liked having control of my mixes, and just recording at my own pace. In “real studios”, I’ve always found myself having the engineer fix something to my liking, and that gets frustrating sometimes. In a way, it’s a vibe for me..I’m so focused and tapped in with my creativity when I’m alone.

Robbie: As of recently released your fifth song of 2019 “Appreciation” as a real dedication. What was the process while making this song? Did you pick the beat first or did you write the lyrics first? And what stood out for you during the beat selection?

6tusk: Well, I always write my songs after I’ve selected a beat. I may or may not change the beat if I take too long to record it, because my vibes change daily. This was my first song released after a 5 month hiatus. All the love and good energy from the birth of my son made me want to create something more personal to me. The subtle guitar really brought this work to life for me. I was driving when I first heard it, and I just started humming my melodies. I came up with the chorus rather quickly and I freestyled different verses all the way home. Soon as I walked through the door, I had to lay it down.

Robbie: 6tusk you’ve put in hard work as an artist and your buzz continues to grow it’s been awhile since that usb mic grandma bought. What’s been your biggest lesson as an artist so far?

6tusk: I’ve learned to not depend so much on someone’s words. I’m even weary of people’s actions. I can have an idea, but I never really know someone’s true intentions behind what they do or say. Because of that, I stick to myself and I put up a guard that may or may not be holding me back from progressing. I’ve had bad management and I’ve been in contracts from hell. You have to cut through these illusions and have a clear sight on your goals on your own. I just want other artists to know, your best leverage is knowing your worth. You’re your best asset. You’re your best investment.

Robbie: The meaning behind your name 6tusk has an interesting story would you mind letting the Respect Magazine family know the story behind your name and why you chose it?

6tusk: My family comes from Laos. Before the communists took over the government in 1975, there was a red flag with a white three-headed elephant. This represented the ancient name of our country, “Land of a Million Elephants”.
Robbie: So for anyone traveling To Nashville what can they look forward to seeing without and doubt?

6tusk: Well, like almost every other big city, you’ll have your touristy area, which would be Downtown, and your more high poverty areas. Downtown mostly consists of country music bars, restaurants, clubs, and the related. As far as the poverty areas, Nashville has a much higher rate of violent crime than the national average. I remember from a study it said you had a 1-22 chance of being a victim. So just be on your toes and stay away from areas that aren’t pleasant to the eye. The thing about the city is that you’re close to some housing projects; one wrong turn and you never know.

Robbie: What can the people look forward to hear and see from you in the upcoming year months etc?

6tusk: Well, I’ve been working on some great songs that are radio and club ready, rather than the usual “street” music I’ve made over the past year. I have some things in the work with Bay Area legend, Iamsu, and Master Kato from Shoreline Mafia. Of course I still have some songs with rising star MBNel and MBJoeMari in the vault. I’ve got to get work done with Queen Foreigner, LMB Letrece, and a few other rising artists from the Bay. I also have plans to tap in with other cultures as well. I’m going to do a few English-Spanish songs with some other verified artists that I’ve been chatting with. I have some homies from my city that I’m working with that you should keep a look out for: Vinny Vizions, Tim Cee, LBD, Lil Trip, Keelo, Roxo and a few others. DJ Jamestuuh has helped with a few events, and I’ve watched my bro Ty’Darius progress over the past few months in his DJ Journey. He drove my 8 hours over night to my first show, I know he’ll do great things as a DJ as well. I’m aiming to drop more music videos and host my own shows to bring more exposure. Big up Pro from Showkase for all the guidance.

Seeing this song develop into what it is now was so dope. Zay & Purpp only met once at one of Purpp’s recording sessions in Hollywood. A few months later we recorded their pieces of the song separately on different coasts. Then when it was time to shoot the video in LA & see them both perform the song together it really came full circle. They vibe together well. I love to see two close friends of mine come together on a project like this.”

Butch: Well I been around music since I was a kid. My dad was a huge local artist when I was young so the idea of being an artist/rapper was easy to grasp. What keeps inspiring me to make music is living, being a human you literally have to deal with all types of emotions and we all have different stories to tell so why not make my story a whole experience?? I live for ideas and expressing them however we can.

Butch: We all formed from different groups coming up trying to figure ourselves out and some of us maintained that relationship throughout the years. It began as a tag for music and then made it a genre, then a movement, and now we are like a creative in-house brand for Baltimore culture. We all are best friends so working together on a creative level is very organic. Its definitely impacted my music career because we produce so much content that I can fall back on to give fans another side of me that they’re un aware of.

Butch: my nephew Ollie (Oliver). He gives me so much motivation to be great in this rap shit. Also for this mixtape project, I wanted to embrace my punk side, bring more experimental energy driven elements opposed from Swamp Boy where its jazzy but still raw. A lot of people don’t know that when I lived at this warehouse space called Bell Foundry, we had diy shows in the basement and id perform on shows with hardcore punk bands and we have the summer lit. I wanted to bring that back for this summer and give my people a good time.
