Dj Khaled continues the roll-out for his next studio album (titled Grateful) with the release of his latest single, “I’m the One.” As with every Khaled record, this one boasts a ton of star power in the form of Migos‘ Quavo, Chance The Rapper, Justin Bieber and Lil Wayne all appear on this record. Just from scrolling through some early takes on social media, it seems the fans love it:

The 305 native had been teasing the record from his multiple social media outlets for the past week. He even stopped by The Cruz Show and delivered another classic interview which you can check out below.

The past two years have been amazing for the South Florida DJ; his previous album Major Key went Gold and claimed two Platinum singles. Now, Khaled looks to raise the bar even higher with Grateful. Khaled even went out of his way to name his newborn son Asahd the executive producer on the project.

What do you think about DJ Khaled’s new single? Love it or hate it, leave a comment down below and let us know. For more news on Grateful, keep it locked on RESPECT.

In Young M.A‘s first project since the release of her chart topping single “OOOUUU”, the Brooklyn MC looks to prove her doubters wrong.

Herstory is our first real taste of M.A with expectations in the industry. The EP is a seven-track journey which includes the singles “OOOUUU” and “Hot Sauce.” Fans of the New York artist took to social media to voice their excitement for the drop:

Obviously, this was a big day for M.A; however, arguably bigger news was announced earlier in the week when Hot 97 revealed that she will be blessing this year’s Summer Jam with her presence.

It is hard to believe that the year is already a quarter of the way over. Winter has come and gone, while spring is here to carry us into the warmer months of the year. In the meantime, 2017 has blessed us with some unbelievable releases so far. We have heard new projects from the likes of Big Sean to Kodak Black; here are some of our favorites of the year so far.

Kendrick Lamar – DAMN.

The much anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar pushes the boundaries of raw emotion on his latest project. Aided by a chart-topping single “HUMBLE.” and quirky interludes and skits from Hip-Hop legend Kid Capri, DAMN. is another thrilling project from Kung-Fu Kenny that will be in album of the year discussion all the way into December.

Rick Ross – Rather You Than Me

When Rick Ross announced his new album at the end of last year, I never thought that a Rozay release could hold substantial weight in the industry. Boy, was I wrong: Rather You Than Me is a return to form for the Boss hailing from the 305. Just like the city which Ross claims, his latest project is a tribute to the culture of Miami. Whether it’s the truth searing “Idols Become Rivals” or the luxurious “Maybach Music V,” Rather You Than Me ranks right up there with the best of Rozay’s discography.

Drake – More Life

An album or a playlist? Whatever Aubrey Graham wants us to call his latest project, there is no question that it’s one of his most intriguing offerings yet. More Life contains a heavy track list which is 22 records strong. While that may seem daunting, I find it kind of refreshing. Drake is known to have a diverse fan-base that picks and chooses at which version of Drizzy that they want to vibe to the most. This theory is put to the ultimate test on More Life due to the fact that every version of Drake does exist on this tape. For example: you have Toronto Drake in “Get It Together” and Atlanta Drake in the tracks “Portland” & “Sacrifices.” Even Dancehall Drizzy gets some love on the records “Madiba Riddim.” All in all, there is so much music on More Life that everyone will have a different way of experiencing it.

Migos – CULTURE

The trio from the north side of Atlanta took the music industry by storm after riding the wave of their smash record “Bad & Boujee.” The single later became the #1 record on the Billboard charts and the hype for Migos‘ next album was at a fever pitch. Quavo, Offset and Takeoff took the momentum of that hit and rolled out their most anticipated record to date. The result was CULTURE, a love letter to southern trap music. This project is littered with typical club bangers like “Get Right Witcha” & “T-Shirt,” while also experimenting with drug-induced melodies like “What’s the Price.” If anything, CULTURE represents the current state of Hip-Hop below the Mason-Dixon line and the Migos prove they are at the forefront of it.

In his solo debut, one of the key members of Grammy-nominated band The Internet looks to bring his own unique style to a studio project. On The Drum Chord Theory, Matt Martians uses components from his previous mixtape series to create a sound unique to Matt’s style. If you were a fan of Odd Future back in 2011, this project will be a welcome addition to your playlist due to its Jazz and R&B undertones. On tracks like “Baby Girl” and “Calling On Me,” listeners can truly sense the fun Matt Martians was having while crafting this excellent release.

Kehlani continues to push toward the release of her debut album SexySweetSavage. The Oakland native has had a pretty successful 2016 due to the popularity of her smash-hit “CRZY.”

Since then Kehlani has been releasing small previews of her next project. First was the release of her stunning visual for her new single “Distraction.” Now Ms. Parrish is back with a new visual for her Little Simz assisted record “Table.”

This video is shot in London, where Kehlani and Simz are shown doing awkward dances in a park, performing in club venues and just plan hanging out.

It really is a simple video and a good change of pace from some of Kehlani’s more flasher visuals like “CRZY” and “The Way.”

Parrish will also be embarking on her first world tour this February. So if you cant get enough of Kehlani this is your chance to see her live.

SweetSexySavage is expected to be released at the beginning of 2017 so stay tuned for that because what we have heard so far it has been a joy to hear Kehlani sound so positive in her music after the PartyNextDoor debacle and her attempted suicide earlier this year.

Post Malone had a lot of reasons to say congratulations this year. After having a wild 2016, which included going on tour with superstar Justin Bieber. The “Too Young” artist closes the year by finally dropping his long awaited debut album Stoney. Post took to social media to share the excitement with his fans.

Stoney is a 17 track effort that includes his chart topping single “White Iverson,” and a plethora of collabs with many of today’s top artist. Bieber, Kehlani and Quavo (1/3 of the Migos) all make an appearance on Post’s first studio project.

The single “Deja Vu,” which features the biebs, has also been starting to gain traction on the Billboard Top 100 in the last month. So far Posty has been receiving mixed reviews on the album from fans of the artist on social media.

Recently, RESPECT. was able to sit down with a one of the most intriguing artists in the industry. This was an emcee from the tarheel state of North Carolina, Deniro Farrar.

Farrar first burst on the scene back in 2014 with his critically acclaimed Rebirth EP. The success of that project brought Farrar respect from many of his peers from Rapsody to Kendrick Lamar.

Now almost three years since the release of Rebirth. Farrar is ready to embark on the next chapter of his career. The Red Book series is an expression of what has become reality for many Black Americans over the past two years.

From the viral nature that police brutality has become in the eyes of the american public, Farrar uses his craft to remain grounded to the roots of hip-hop. Artists like Tupac and Andre 3000 cross his mind when Farrar speaks of the inspiration of his latest project. In this interview, Farrar dives into the making of his latest project and the state of the rap game in general.

RESPECT.: The first time I was introduced to you was on WELL$’s “98′ Juvie.” How did that collaboration come about ?

I linked up with WELL$ in 2014 and that’s when we did the remix of “98 Juvie”. So the track that is on his new album that came out was the remix. Really he took damn near two years to shoot the video. But I recorded that verse around the time that Rebirth Ep release.

RESPECT.: So that’s why you sound like a completely different person on your newer releases.

Yeah my voice has gotten deeper, and my flow and deliver have gotten much tighter since that specfic track dropped.

RESPECT.: Obviously on this new project The Red Book Vol.1 you are hitting on a bunch of diffrent topics like police brutality and gentrification. Can you give me some background information about the concept of the Red Book series?

To be honest, the topics that I have been rapping on in Red Book is what I have always been rapping. I think different songs will bring out different energies. “98 Juvie” was a street record, I have a street background so I had to approach it like that. This Red Book project, was my own salvation. This is what I felt people needed to hear, it is really a collection of my thoughts.

RESPECT.: Recently albums like To Pimp a Butterfly have come and introduced a younger generation to this type of politically charged music.Do You feel like the climate of Rap right now was a big part of the inspiration of Red Book?

Yes and no because everybody who has been talking about this stuff now is just taking inspiration from music’s past. Ozzy Osborne was very political with his lyrics back in the day. Goodie Mob and Andre 3000 were on this movement back in the 90’s rapping about being the original black man. which in turn, was rapping about political injustice as well as corruption within the system. Now of days most rappers try to fit into a demographic just to get their music even played on the radio. The main reason why i don’t get my inspiration from newer artist.

RESPECT.: Finally, one of the standout records from the Vol.1 is the record “Gentrification”. This topic has been brought up a good bit throughout 2016. Artist like Big K.R.I.T and Noname Gypsy have record tracks on multiple projects on the subject. How is your take on gentrification different.

I believe that this track leaves the listener with no question of what gentrification is. So many artist, I feel dance around the topic which leaves the listener confused. What I do is break it down so by the end of the track you know what it is and how to combat it. I pride myself on taking knowledge and making it easy for my audience to understand what I am trying to educate them on.

Deniro’s Red Book Vol.1 is now available on Apple Music and Spotify.
Kid Cudi has had a roller coaster ride of a 2016. From announcing that he was working on his follow-up project to Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven to entering rehab this past October. It has been a trying year for the “Mr. Rager” artist. Cudi has since been out of rehab and even made it to his scheduled performance at the first annual Complex Con in Long Beach California.

Their the re-energized emcee reunited with his fans after his short hiatus. He then promised the crowd that his new LP, Passion, Pain and Demon Slaying is on it’s way. Today, Cudi took to social media to give us a firm release date for the album.

December 16th is the date, so get ready because the latest singles from Cudi have been excellent. From the Pharrell Williams assisted “Surfin,” –which has a visual out now–to the latest record that cudder dropped today titled “Baptized By Fire.” This latest track features a frequent collaborator , Travis Scott. Scott’s recently released Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight had multiple features from Kid Cudi on the project. So it wasn’t that shocking that the Rodeo artist would be featured on Cudi’s new album.

You can check out Kid Cudi’s new single “Baptized By Fire” on Apple Music here.
