Talented rapper and visual director Lanz Pierce takes this music video into her own hands and gives it the “DIY” treatment. From shooting the clip, to acting in it, to rapping the lyrics, Lanz makes sure you know she’s a one woman show. The dramatic scene finds her in a weird love triangle that ends…well, take a look. Listen to the words in “Confessions” as well, some profound flips of emotion weaved throughout. Look out for her new project, Editor’s Eye.

Jazzy and well arranged, the artist formerly known as Soulful!, Drew Dave offers the best that hip-hop beats can morph into, with his forthcoming instrumental album SynthBASED. This project represents the outcome of music made with love and passion in the mix. The first shot from the DC native’s SynthBASED is the funk bottom, smokey organ-led single, “Bullshittin'”. It’s a neck snapper, that will make even the casual hip-hop listener want to spit a bar or two. Be sure to pick up the album, which drops Feb. 24th and have it play during those cool out get-togethers you’ll have on these chilly winter/fake spring evenings. Pre-orders are:

Rap is outta control, so Billy G. Williams of Paterson, New Jersey wants to address the issues that are cause for alarm with his type of hip-hop representation. Speaking on his love of the culture’s more manly elements of rhyming hard and staying away from feminene attributes, BGW goes at some MCs by name. Yeah, he’s letting his feelings be known and has no chill on the lack of diversity in his hip-hop view. Produced by TV Beats with a sound set for thoughtful musings, “Out of Touch” will have some feeling the same way that Billy does. Be on the look out for more from the outspoken spitter.

“STOP” is the first deep cut from the forthcoming Words Paint Pictures album from Rapper Big Pooh of the mighty Little Brother crew out of North Carolina. I don’t care if they haven’t made music as a collective in a while, they are still LB to me. So while they figure out their music group future, all three members are on the pursuit to make the best tunes to enlighten and engage your mind. Up first for 2015 is Rapper Big Pooh who has announced his signing to the most slept on, quality producing hip-hop label out, Mellow Music Group. Connecting with Detroit beat master, Apollo Brown for the 9 song project, Pooh floats on AB’s tracks, which set the sonic stage for Pooh’s theme of politically and socially conscience lyrics on the plight of the young black male. “STOP” in particular addresses the climate that Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown had to endure in their lives and through their passing. Powerful work. Take a listen and go to iTunes to preorder the album dropping on March 24th.

Now we have the gloved one “Michael Jackson” to add to the long list of famous titled tracks. The young Avon Carter (whose name sounds kinda famous already), does a love letter to MJ while talking about how dope he is using all types of Mike references. It’s funny as the hook is the moonwalker’s name repeated in that staccato flow that’s all the rage on songs today.

The twist to this is, the song is getting viral love on social media with a dance challenge hashtag #michaeljacksonchallenge and radio play in NY on Power 105FM and Sirius/XM satellite. Click the link to listen, then try your best MJ moves for Instagram.
