Critically-acclaimed GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter, Ambré releases her sophomore EP, 3000°, today via Roc Nation Records. In addition to the release, Ambré is set to hit the Afropunk Festival stage this September in Brooklyn.
The 8-track EP serves as a musical love letter to her hometown of New Orleans, infusing the rich sounds and culture of the historic city while highlighting the unique experiences of Nola’s black community. Using New Orleans’ rap legend, Juvenile’s genre-defining album, 400 Degreez, and Lil’ Wayne’s 500 Degrees as the inspiration for the title of the project, Ambré recruited her mother to provide commentary audio between songs about what the city means to her. In addition, 3000° features appearances from Masego, BEAM, Jvck James, Destin Conrad, and Jay Electronica, along with production from Mike N Keyz (Cardi B, Nipsey Hussle, Blxst), Myguymars (Nipsey Hussle, Jay Z, Chris Brown), Louie Lastic (Kehlani, Masego) and Ambré herself, who also wrote the majority of the music.
When speaking about 3000°, Ambré had the following to say:
“This body of work means so much to me because it reflects how I view myself, where I come from, and my loved ones…This is a love story set in the most magical city. New Orleans made me who I am; make no mistake about it. Hopefully, my fans and new listeners will also feel the heart of it and become immersed in the world I have created in this EP.”
Having already received a GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Album for co-writing on H.E.R.’s debut EP, Ambré has made a name for herself, creating songs with Kehlani and Chloe & Halle, among others. Outside of her songwriting credits, the openly queer artist has collaborated on songs with the likes of Thundercat, 6LACK, TOKiMonsta, Eric Bellinger, Alex Isley, serpentwithfeet, and Kehlani, to name a few, as well as was featured on soundtracks for HBO’s Insecure, Halle Berry’s directorial debut, Bruised and Femme Foward’s compilation album. Not to mention, Ambré has become quite the press darling earning praise from the likes of NPR, Vice, Teen Vogue, Entertainment Weekly, Essence, Refinery29, and MTV, to name a few.
Entering what will indeed become a career-defining chapter in her career, Ambré’s 3000° is poised to become the R&B soundtrack of summer and will surely place her at the forefront of music’s new class of stars.
