French Montana releases new single “Blue Chills” as the first song on his fifth-studio album and first independent release Montega via Coke Boys Records dropping next Friday June 24th.
Introduced by an ominous instrumental melody, “Blue Chills” sets the stage for the narrative to unfold in the forthcoming Harry Fraud produced effort. Montana jumps on the track with his signature unwavering flow, “Damn Montana, why you ain’t spitting like the old Montana?,” emphasizing Montega’s theme of self-authenticity seen throughout the project. He continues to rap about his values and not prioritizing the “diamond plaques.” Then proceeds to say “keep the crown in your heart, not your head,” alluding to fame inflating your ego and the importance of staying grounded amongst one’s success. Visuals directed by Rook (known for his work with Mozzy, Roddy Ricch, Key Glock and more), Montana is seen in various parts of New York City including his favorite spots in the Bronx where he grew up with his day ones. Against the backdrop of the cityscape, the video showcases poignant clips illustrating key moments in his life and career that led to where he is today with appearances by Lil Durk, his brother Zaak Kharbouch in Dubai, and more.
Last week, Montana dropped the first single “Drive By” featuring Detroit rapper Babyface Ray from the highly-anticipated new effort on June 10th. Montega, executive produced by Montana’s longtime friend and legendary hip-hop producer Harry Fraud, is available for pre-order of a limited edition digital, CD or autographed copy of Montega exclusively now on montega.shop.
