Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter/arranger/producer Yebba teamed up with Spotify and Electric Lady Studios to release her Live AT Electric Lady EP (Listen Here).
The five-song EP is a collection of powerful live recordings of songs from Yebba’s critically acclaimed, unbarred and honest debut album Dawn, reimagined, produced, and arranged by Yebba’s band leader, James Francies as well as a cover of John Mayer’s “The Age of Worry.” The EP includes contributions from Questlove, Pino Palladino (who notably played bass on the original John Mayer version of “The Age of Worry,” in addition to Yebba’s cover of the song), Charles Myers, and more.
Says James Francies, YEBBA’s Music Director & Album Producer: “Rerecording some of these songs with fresh eyes and ears really changed the way we approached them. Having the core members of the band from Dawn really brought that feeling of what it was like the past few years when we recorded it. From Questlove, to Pino, to Charles [Myers] and the string quartet, I think we all found comfort in being in a familiar space with familiar people. It felt like a family reunion.”
In celebration of the release, Yebba releases her compelling live performance video of “Louie Bag” (watch here) as well as her rendition of John Mayer’s “The Age of Worry” (watch here). Mayer himself was so moved he responded on Yebba’s Instagram post, “My screen is getting blurry. ️ So moved. Thank you for showing what’s been hiding in my own work through your profoundly powerful and soulful take. You are so special I can’t stand/understand it sometimes. ️️️”. Both “Louie Bag” & “The Age of Worry” were shot by Andy Swartz at Electric Lady Studios in New York.
