20-year-old photographer, Garrett Bruce is one of the most sought-after photographers in the game at the moment and has truly worked his way into the industry from the ground up. He’s gone from waiting outside of shows and studios at 3 A.M. in hopes of grabbing pictures of his favorite rappers to being one of the last photographers to shoot Pop Smoke for his iconic Time Square billboard. Through his determination and talent, he’s spent the past few years building an impressive portfolio, including shots of Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Jamie Foxx, J Balvin, Playboi Carti, and countless others––solidifying him as a premier photographer in entertainment today.
He gives us insight on his upcoming photo book Garrett Bruce Vol. 2, a follow-up to his 2020 photo book Garrett Bruce Vol. 1, which is a collection of unreleased, intimate profile shots of notable superstars (tentatively due to release in April of this year). Process of setting up a youth workshop in partnership with Soho Youth Club where he’ll be gifting cameras to kids in NYC and teaching them everything there is to know about photography, potentially concluding with a celebrity photo-shoot.
We got a chance to chat with Garrett to discuss his work with Gunna, Nas, & more, his journey thus far as a young photographer, advice he may have for other aspiring shooters, his upcoming photo book Garrett Bruce Vol. 2, and his upcoming youth workshop in collaboration with the Soho Youth Club.Get into the interview audio below.
