Busta Rhymes drops the video for “Deep Thought” from his album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God via The Conglomerate Entertainment, Inc./EMPIRE. This comes following the release of his new YouTube documentary DIVINE: The 18 Year Anniversary Celebration earlier this week.
Directed by Benny Boom and The Dragon, the “Deep Thought” visual opens up with high point views of New York City’s skyline at night. Rhymes is stuck in a trance fading in and out, wrapped deep inside his battling thoughts. His significant other is serenading Rhymes whispering, “let me relax you, let me comfort you, in deep thought baby, tell me what’s on your mind.” Inside of their darklit penthouse, the woman comforts Rhymes as he raps, “When I need a place to be tranquil, meditate, think ’bout what really matter. Go and rest my head on my shawty booby. She run her fingers through the new dread I’m growing. Peep the way my day might have been overwhelming, tryna rеlax a n*gga.” Giving insight into Rhymes’ motivation for his unparalleled achievements, he discusses his personal struggles as he pulls out images of his family on his phone and raps, “Losing Chris Lighty and then losin’ my father. I’m bittersweet, so I promised my momma I’ma become a martyr.”
As he continues to put his struggles on display, his frustrations become clearer as he continues, “every day that pass, I move a little smarter. That’s why I work so hard, I try expanding business a little larger. To get my son a Range and my daughter a Charger, but I feel cheated ’cause Chris and my father, they ain’t right here to see it.” Tensions build between Rhymes and his love interest as she steps out in lingerie luring him into the bedroom, getting him out of the hole he dug with his deep thoughts.
