To round out Women’s History Month, today, apparel brand Roots Of Fight launched a new collection honoring the life and legacy of the late Olympian and USA Track & Field star, Wilma Rudolph.
The story of Wilma Rudolph is a one of incredible perseverance. Known as “the fastest woman in the world,” Wilma found herself up against poor health, rampant racism, sexism and a host of other issues, yet through the adversity, she went on to become one of the greatest athletes of all time.
If not familiar, Wilma battled polio and scarlet fever in her childhood leaving her unable to learn to walk until she was six years old. These trials only made her stronger and pushed her to pursue running. Wilma went on to win a bronze medal at the 1956 Olympics and three gold medals at the 1960 Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field at the same Olympic games.
She’s an inspiration, force of nature and pillar of the civil rights movement. From start to finish, Wilma Rudolph led an extraordinary life.
In celebration of her life, The Wilma Rudolph collection includes a variety of shirts, all retailing for $48 – $80. The full collection is available for purchase exclusively on rootsoffight.com.
