Fresh off the release of his critically acclaimed eighth studio album, On Earth, and in Heaven (2/12), Lucky Music/EMPIRE’s Robin Thicke showed off a taste of the 11-track set yesterday on The Kelly Clarkson Show (3/2).
Performing album opener and “vibrant breath of fresh air” (Soul In Stereo) “Lucky Star,” Thicke made audiences nationwide swoon with the sweet, breezy number. Sitting down virtually with Clarkson, the pair talked about his nearly seven-year journey to this new music, chatting about the inspiration behind several of Thicke’s songs, fatherhood, and the crazy bank robbery that inspired “Oh Shooter” from his debut album, A Beautiful World.
Returning to music with flair, funk, and his signature soulful style, Thicke’s new record encompasses his most transformative, life-altering chapter yet, with every track purposely dedicated to those he loves both here with him and beyond.
Praise continues to pour in over the new music, as American Songwriter puts simply: “Ultimately, On Earth, and in Heaven shows us the same Robin Thicke that we’ve always known, but with an extra level of care—care for his craft, care for his public persona, care for his family and the things that he’s identified as important to him.”
