The illustrious and renowned producer, artist, and global hitmaker, Tainy, kicks off the year with a nomination in the “Crossover” Collaboration of the Year category for his global anthem “Un Día (One Day),” with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin at the 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards. The award show, which will be held in Miami, FL and will be broadcast live on Univision on February 18, 2021 at 8:00 pm EST. “Un Día (One Day),” with Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin reached No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts respectively. The song went on to accrue over 500 million streams and received praise from prominent publications like Billboard, Rolling Stone, Complex, and Harper’s BAZAAR, to name a few. The song garnered Tainy nomination for the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards as well as inclusion on President Obama’s highly coveted ‘Summer 2020 Playlist’.
The Puerto Rican producer and artist’s nomination follows the release of his EP Club Dieciséis, a 2020 Playlist, alongside NEON16. The EP features five tracks: “Todas Tus Amigas Están Mintiendo” featuring Alvaro Diaz and Dylan Fuentes; “Gramos” featuring Kris Floyd and Hozwal; “A Mi También” featuring Alvaro Diaz and Feid; “Falta” featuring Danileigh and Kris Floyd; and “La Pena” featuring Dylan Fuentes. Each track on the EP has a respective video released by NEON16 — with the first video for “A Mi También” having garnered over 2.3 million views on Youtube since its debut.
The release of Club Dieciséis puts a cap on what has been a tremendous and remarkable year for the producer and artist. Tainy ended 2020 on a high note having held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s “Top Latin Producer” chart for 58 weeks. He also won “Producer of the Year” at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards. As an artist, his work on the hit song “Agua” with J Balvin from “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run” animated film’s official soundtrack took the No. 1 spot on both Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts. The full soundtrack is slated for release later this month.
