Breakout star Jerreau releases his stunning visual for “Dries.” “Dries” is the 2nd installment of the rapper and producer’s three part video trilogy from his acclaimed album “Keep Everything Your Self” album.
Dries leans heavily on Jerreau’s deep appreciation and study of James Baldwin and his famous televised debates of the late 1950s and 1960s. In the video, which was directed by Leah Rachel, creator of the Netflix original series “Chambers,” Jerreau oscillates between debate and stunning performance over a melodic beat. In addition, Jerreau uses fashion from Dries Van Noten, Margiela, Celine & Nanushka to tell his story, centered around the Black experience.
The song is the second of a trilogy of videos from Jerreau’s second studio album “Keep Everything Your Self,” which includes work from a set of diverse creatives including R&B artist BJ the Chicago Kid, celebrity stylist Anastasia Walker and, as mentioned, NETFLIX’ “Chambers” creator Leah Rachel and Autumn Dea, assistant editor on Beyonce’s “Black is King.” The videos serve as a fun, celebratory and uplifting bookend to a tumultuous 2020.
As part of the project, Jerreau released a custom tee, designed by Justice Hall of The Fruit Mkt. The design is inspired by a lyric off his album… “Working through my traumas, ya’ll be safe out here.” A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America to honor his late sister and mother who both passed from the disease
Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Jerreau (pronounced Je-Row), who has a supporter in Lebron James, has worked with Big Sean, Dom Kennedy, Currency and was part of a nationwide tour with Kendrick Lamar.
