Grammy-nominated gospel artist, Jason Clayborn and his group, The Atmosphere Changers, is one of the collaborators on rapper, Jack Harlow’s most recent album release That’s What They All Say (December 2020) on the song, “Same Guy” featuring pop sensation, Adam Levine. This is the first time Clayborn has collaborated with the writer, but described the experience as, “Epic! He allowed us to really be creative with this…” He describes Harlow as “…extremely creative and down to earth, and you can tell he really loves his city.” Clayborn and Harlow were connected by a mutual friend, Nemo Achida, who works as Harlow’s Creative Director. While Achida and Harlow were in the studio, according to Clayborn, Achida mentioned, “Man you need to add a choir to this…”, and Achida knew the perfect person to call: Jason Clayborn and The Atmosphere Changers. The pair connected in a studio in Atlanta and according to Clayborn, “the rest is history.”
When asked about his reasoning for agreeing to this collaboration, Clayborn feels, “It is important to keep the element of choir relevant in any genre of music. You’ll see it from time to time in country, hip hop, R&B, pop, and more, and it’s just good to showcase the fact that choirs will never die.” Clayborn lists his biggest choir leader inspirations as Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Donald Lawrence, Ricky Dillard, and Kirk Franklin, many of which he has had the opportunity to collaborate with as the writer for Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s “Better” and “You’re All I Need” as well as Ricky Dillard’s “I Survived It”.
Other features on Harlow’s album also include Lil Baby, Chris Brown, EST Gee, Static Major, Bryson Tiller, DaBaby, Tory Lanez, Lil Wayne, and Big Sean who is featured on the album’s first single, “Way Out”.
“Same Guy” and Harlow’s entire album, That’s What They All Say, is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
