Even with a history of larger-than-life visuals under his belt, he goes bigger than ever for this one. Dripping with overtones of Mad Max: Fury Road and The Book of Eli, he hosts a post-apocalyptic party worthy of the big screen. Joined by models decked out for the end of the world, he takes over a militarized desert camp, while leaning into the track’s smooth melodic bars. Not to mention, Jack Harlow and Lil Durk also turn up with explosive verses of their own. “Hot Boy Bling” hits as hard as anything he’s done.
Recently, XXL named it among “The 13 Best New Songs This Week,” and it popped off as the #1 Most Added song on Rhythmic Radio. To date, it has posted up 6 million global streams with 55.5 million global streams on CB5 in total. Plus, French just graced the cover of XXL’s winter issue.
French set the stage for CB5 with a string of scorching singles. First up, he joined forces with Pop Smoke on “Double G.” It has already racked up over 4.6 million Spotify streams and 7.2 million YouTube views on the music video in addition to critical acclaim from Rolling Stone and Complex who dubbed it “bass-heavy and hard-hitting.” On its heels, he revealed “Wave Blues” [feat. Benny The Butcher]. Beyond 1.2 milllion YouTube views on the music video, Brooklyn Vegan touted “Wave Blues,” while Revolt TV christened it, “a dope New York state connection.”
The 19-track project unloads an onslaught of anthems, ranging from the slippery “Hot Boy Bling” [feat. Jack Harlow & Lil Durk] and slick “So Real” [feat. NBA YoungBoy] to “Corner” [feat. Zak & A$AP Rocky]. Check out the full tracklisting below.
French has returned to the streets with his tightest and toughest body of work to date. Welcome to the Creation of Kings Everywhere…
CB5 continues a storied tradition for French Montana. The original C.O.K.E. Boys dropped back in 2010, and Complex proclaimed it “arguably the best record of the rapper’s mixtape run.” It ramped up with C.O.K.E. Boys 2 and C.O.K.E. Boys 3 . Meanwhile, The Fader described the last installment, C.O.K.E. Boys 4 , as “triumphant.” Closing a six-year gap, he returns with another landmark sequel and an essential block-banger.
