Five-time Grammy Award-nominated artist Robin Thicke’s new single “Fire It Up” has been selected as the next track to be featured for the 2020 NFL Songs of the Season series, debuting during the Thursday Night Football broadcast of the Chargers vs. Raiders game.
Since dropping his first solo album in 2003, Thicke has gone on to record five #1 Hit songs on the Billboard Top 100 charts and earn several awards and nominations, including four Billboard Awards and two Soul Train Music Awards. Thicke rose to international fame in 2013 with his single “Blurred Lines” and has collaborated with various artists, such as, Nicki Minaj, 3T, T.I., Christina Aguilera, Jessie J, K. Michelle, Pharrell, DJ Cassidy, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Flo Rida, Brandy, Kid Cudi and Mary J. Blige. Thicke has also worked on albums such as Usher’s Confessions and Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, while releasing his own R&B singles in the United States including “Lost Without U”, “Magic”, and “Sex Therapy”. Diving into television, Thicke is currently a judge on the FOX musical competition show The Masked Singer.
Songs of the Season highlights superstars and emerging recording artists of all genres, incorporating their music into game broadcasts throughout the 2020 season. The series supports Inspire Change, the NFL’s social justice initiative focused on reducing barriers to opportunity in four priority areas: education, economic advancement, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.
“I wrote ‘Fire It Up’ a few years ago as an anthem of celebration for life and love and this sentiment feels just as prevalent in this season of life. We are reminded more than ever the importance of community and family and I’m honored that this song is part of the Songs of the Season series and the social justice movement with Inspire Change.”
Songs of the Season debuted during the 2019-2020 season and included artists such as Royce Da 5’9”, Lecrae, and Blackway. This season, renowned artists Kelly Rowland and Blackway have led the September and October song selections. The series showcases musicians that will create and deliver a song to be integrated in all NFL promotions each month during the season.
