Four-time Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Rowland’s new single “Hitman” was selected as the next track to be featured for the 2020 NFL Songs of the Season series, debuting during Sunday’s slate of NFL broadcasts.
Since dropping her first solo album in 2002, Rowland has gone on to sell over 40 million records and earn several awards and nominations, including four Grammy Awards, one Billboard Music Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards. Prior to her illustrious solo career, she rose to fame in the late 1990s as a member of Destiny’s Child, one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time. Rowland has also ventured into movies and television with roles in movies such as Freddy vs. Jason and Think Like a Man producing and starring in Lifetime films Merry Liddle Christmas and Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding, judging on The Voice (Australia) and hosting the third season of The X Factor in the U.S.
Songs of the Season highlights superstars and emerging recording artists of all genres, incorporating their music into game broadcasts throughout the 2020 season. The series supports Inspire Change, the NFL’s social justice initiative focused on reducing barriers to opportunity in four priority areas: education, economic advancement, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.
“I have my favorite NFL teams but find myself rooting for any team that my husband, Tim loves,” said Rowland. “I am excited to have my song associated with this series and with football overall, where there has always been synergy with music and the game.”
Songs of the Season debuted during the 2019-2020 season and included artists such as Royce Da 5’9”, Lecrae, and SASH, and Blackway. The series showcases musicians that will create and deliver a song to be integrated in all NFL promotions each month during the season.
