Today, renowned DJ and producer Statik Selektah announced the release of his new single “Keep It Moving (feat Nas, Joey Bada$$ and Gary Clark Jr.),” which is available to stream on all platforms HERE via Mass Appeal.
“Nas, Joey and I linked up at Sweet Chick during Grammy Weekend and talked about making this record the first one that I present off my album,” Statik said. “Then I played the song for Dave Chappelle in the summer and he stopped the music at his afterparty and introduced it to the crowd, who all went crazy. It was a really dope moment and it was then when I knew this song was gonna be a time stamp on 2020. I’m so happy the world finally gets to hear it.”
“Keep It Moving” marks the first single off Statik’s forthcoming ninth solo studio album, The Balancing Act, which is slated to be a star-studded affair featuring appearances by Nas, Griselda, 2 Chainz, Dave East, Method Man, Joey Bada$$, and more.
The Brooklyn-Boston DJ last dropped a collaborative album with Bun B in April 2019, when they famously teamed up to release TrillStatik – a joint album that was created entirely from scratch during an 11-hour livestream on YouTube.
Statik’s last album release as the lead artist came in December 2017, when he released 8 that featured the likes of heavyweights such as Run the Jewels, G-Eazy, Wiz Khalifa, Action Bronson, Wale, The LOX and Raekwon, among many others.
Earlier this year, XXL named Statik Selektah as one of the 48 Greatest Hip-Hop DJs of All-Time. As a producer, he’s known for a slew of standout songs, including J. Cole and Joey Bada$$’s “Legendary” and Eminem’s collaboration with Big Sean, Royce da 5’9”, Danny Brown, Dej Loaf and Trick-Trick on “Detroit vs. Everybody.”
