Today, Crenshaw-bred rapper Nana shares his compelling new short film “Heaven & Hennessy.” Written by Nana and Jimi Stone (and directed by the latter), the visual addresses the universal moral theme of good versus evil, a duality that exists in many people struggling to survive. “Going nowhere fast will I see an early fate, I don’t wanna die young but if I do will I see them pearly gates,” pleas Nana on “Heaven & Hennessy,” a semi-autobiographical account of the life decisions he faced growing up in his hometown. A preacher’s kid conflicted by the fast streets of Crenshaw, Nana’s artistry is driven by his lyricism and desire to inspire listeners with thought provoking commentary and visuals in the same vein of hip-hop legends Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey Hussle.
