Today, songstress Mai Moxi unveils new visuals for the uptempo empowering single, B.A.D. featuring critically acclaimed rapper Charles Hamilton. B.A.D (Black Always Dreaming) pays homage to every black woman who has ever felt overlooked, underestimated and not properly given their “flowers” in any industry. From the various shades of melanated women to the colorful velvet durags drippin’ to the floor, this video is a true celebration of blackness and womanhood!
Negative stereotypes about black women and bright colors fueled the inspiration for all of the looks in the visual. “My mom always told me that I can wear any color in the rainbow because every color in the rainbow is in my skin,” said Mai Moxi. All of the colors also signify the different colors of the chakras in the body. A subliminal nod to encourage people to be more in alignment.
“B.A.D.” is a single off the newly released independent album, Nymphaea. The 14-track project is heavily influenced by all the cities she has called home including Monrovia (Liberia), Cleveland, Boulder, Oakland & Brooklyn. This makes for an especially unique fusion of sounds from Afrobeats, Alternative R&B & Hip-Hop. Co-produced by a myriad of Cleveland-based talent including Nate Fox (Chance The Rapper, Kehlani, J.Cole), This album also has features from the likes of Lil B the Based God and Congolese Afrobeats artist Young Paris among others.
