Black Eyed Peas recently joined forces with renowned abstract expressionist painter Jack Coulter in order to support Color of Change—the nation’s largest online racial justice organization.
Drawing inspiration from Black Eyed Peas’ eighth full-length album and debut for Epic Records, TRANSLATION, the artist conceived and created three paintings. As a synesthete, he accessed his ability to see sound in color, essentially rendering the music onto canvas. Following the tragic death of George Floyd, he opted to paint with shards of glass and sticks rather than brushes. Upon completion, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Coulter, and Epic Records teamed up with CharityBuzz.com to auction off the paintings. Bidding closed last week as the initiative raised over $20,000 to benefit Color of Change and ultimately encourage the fight for racial justice and equality.
The Belfast artist has collaborated with everyone from The Freddie Mercury Estate to Jack Garratt, and his paintings grace the homes of Sir Paul McCartney, Harry Styles, Shanola Hampton and more.
Black Eyed Peas’ latest album, TRANSLATION, is available now HERE.
Black Eyed Peas first teased TRANSLATION with “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life)” in late 2019. In just eight months, it garnered dozens of platinum certifications worldwide and put up staggering numbers. Tallying over 1.5 billion combined streams and views, it made history as both their most streamed song and viewed video ever. Not to mention, it also served as the lead single from the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to the blockbuster Bad Boys For Life. On its heels, the group dropped “MAMACITA” with Ozuna and J Rey Soul this year. It recently eclipsed 400 million combined streams and views, reached #3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart and #1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay Chart and is currently in the Top 20 at Top 40 and Rhythmic Radio.
To date, Black Eyed Peas have sold over 50 million albums worldwide and notched numerous number ones. TRANSLATION ignites the next chapter of this legacy.
