Mr. Saturday (@heymrsaturday) – the emerging, storytelling brand founded and designed by Joey Gollish (@joey_saturday) – will restock its Spring/Summer 2020 Artist Relief Capsule on Saturday May 23rd, 2020 in a continued effort to aid the impact of COVID-19 for the designer’s hometown of Toronto.
Adding to the original capsule, the Good Luck Sleeve in vintage white and Good Luck Sweatpant in pigment black are a new addition to the brand’s SS20 Artist Relief Capsule, releasing alongside the final restock of the coveted pieces from the original sold out capsule. The new Good Luck pieces are a nod to Mr. Saturday’s Fall/Winter 2020 Collection, where ‘Good Luck’ is part of its ‘Fear City’ graphic series which references ‘A Survival Guide to Visitors of NY’ in the 1970’s, and is a recurring theme through Fall/Winter 2020 and the upcoming Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
These pieces are treated with the same garment dye process as the rest of Mr. Saturday’s Spring/Summer 2020 Artist Relief Capsule pieces. The Good Luck Long Sleeve matches the vintage white You Were Never Really Here Pt. 2 Sweatpants, and the Good Luck pigment black sweatpants match the vintage black You Were Never Really Here Hoodie. In times like these, that actually feel like the stark Lower East Side in 1978, we could all use a bit of Good Luck.
Joey’s original goal was to raise a total of $20,000 – the goal was reached and the capsule sold out in just four days. The amount raised currently sits at $72,040, where proceeds will continue to be dispersed by HXOUSE and the Toronto Arts Council. 50% will go towards the TOArtist Response Fund – assisting self-employed, individual artists residents in Toronto whose creative work and income have been affected by the pandemic – and the remaining 50% will go towards supporting factories making supplies for healthcare workers, their staff, and their community.
This capsule is the brand’s way of advocating for people to continue to stay home, and with the purchase of these sweat sets, t-shirts, and keychains, customers can also contribute to keeping their community safe and creatives able to create.
Mr. Saturday’s Spring/Summer 2020 Artist Relief Capsule restock will be available on Saturday May 23rd, going live at midnight (Friday) at heymrsaturday.com.
