Rising star and creative presence Zsela has announced her much-anticipated debut EP, Ache of Victory, set for release on April 24th. Along with the exciting news, Zsela has shared her first new song of 2020, “For Now”, ahead of the EP’s release. This EP, produced by Daniel Aged (inc. no world), marks a musical beginning for the 25-year-old; although this is her first project to be released, Zsela has been making music and a name for herself for over a decade in her hometown of Brooklyn, New York. Vogue described Zsela as “transfixing” and this early collection of songs illicit just that; emotionally raw soundscapes layered over sparse and soft notes. “I was getting over a really toxic situation while coming into my own-I’ve taken my time to really get these songs to a place where I could feel good about releasing them,” Zsela says about the music she’s been gearing up to share.
Last year, with only two songs independently released under her name, “Noise” and “Earlier Days,” Zsela caught the attention of music, art and fashion worlds alike, garnering praise from the New York Times, Pitchfork, Vogue, iD, High Snobiety, W Magazine, Wonderland, New York Magazine’s The Cut and more. Zsela made a stunning live debut with scattered solo dates throughout the year, alongside opening tour dates for music industry icons Cat Power and Angel Olsen plus her first performance of 2020 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
