Today Grammy-nominated artist and producer TOKiMONSTA has released her new studio album, Oasis Nocturno, on eponymous imprint TOKiMONSTA MUSIC. The creative visionary’s fourth full-length album finds visionary Jennifer Lee more determined than ever, showcasing her evolution as an artist and picking up where 2017’s critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated release Lune Rouge left off. The album features a handful of rising and established artists, including 2x Grammy-nominated EarthGang, Bibi Bourelly, Jean Deaux, Drew Love, Dumbfounded, Sunni Colón, VanJess, and more. Oasis Nocturno is the second act to TOKiMONSTA’s last album, a beautiful, immersive, and left-turn exploration resulting in a melodic and cohesive project, spanning 12 atmospheric tracks that infuse intricate and declarative vocals with her psychedelic and smooth production.
Prior to the release of Oasis Nocturno, TOKiMONSTA hosted an AMA on Reddit’s r/EDM, where she answered questions from eager fans on a wide range of topics from production, inspiration, to even her favorite Pokémon (which is a Vulpix). The album was also premiered via a livestream on her Facebook live and the newly founded outlet LOST RESORT, which partnered with Beatport and was streamed across YouTube Live, Twitch, and IG Live. Leading up to the album’s release, TOKiMONSTA shared three singles and cinematic visuals off the album, which resulted in fervent anticipation from fans and press alike. TOKiMONSTA dropped the bold intergalactic and empowering anthem “One Day” featuring Bibi Bourelly and Jean Deaux, a technicolor tripped out visual for “Fried For The Night” featuring Dreamville’s hip-hop duo EarthGang and the track was premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show and made the cover of Apple Music‘s New Music Daily playlist, and the pastel-hued animated visual “Love that Never“.
Speaking on the album, TOKiMONSTA shared: “Oasis Nocturno is a journey from dusk to dawn- following the evolving moods and feelings of the night. Making this album gave me a piece of paradise to turn to during some difficult growing pains as a musician and a person. During these ever changing times, I hope listeners will find some fun, romance and refuge in this album.”
After recovering from two intensive surgeries at Stanford to treat Moyamoya, a rare brain condition that left her unable to speak, write, move or comprehend music, TOKiMONSTA released her third studio album Lune Rouge in 2017 to critical fanfare. The album was highly praised by press and resulted in cover stories in Billboard, LA Weekly, and DJ MAG, along with coverage from the likes of Pitchfork, The FADER, Los Angeles Times, and more. The following year, Lune Rouge was Grammy-nominated for Best Dance / Electronic Album, leading into a year full of tremendous accomplishments including a cameo on the Netflix Vox Explained series, a multitude of festival performances around the world, and the release of label compilation Young Art Sound II, featuring contributions from MNDR, Rosehardt, RYAN Playground, HOLLY, Blackbird Blackbird, Ambréand more. Oasis Nocturno marks the next stop on TOKiMONSTA’s journey to becoming a household name around the world and an icon in music history.
