“Bread Basket” starkly symbolizes rapper/songwriter, Seth Hirsch’s personal battles while spreading the message of inclusion with an upbeat banger. Recently signing to Latin record label Puntilla, Hirsch’s new single and music video signifies an integral part of his empowerment journey, ultimately explaining how the lyrical rapper went back to his artistic roots and regained his inner voice. The direction was joined by multi-instrumentalist and producer, Kevin J Simon.
“Bread in a basket is a metaphor for all the dreams or money or trust you gather up, then someone steals off with it,” said Hirsch. “It’s a fun song, but the lyrics are about empty promises and jealous people throwing shade, which we’ve all experienced on our journey to success.”
“Bread Basket” marks a clear departure from Hirsch’s past of rough social environments growing up in Cincinnati to the harsh realities of the industry living in Los Angeles. The organic, up-tempo beat brings Hirsch to a place of determination in the midst of fractured chaos. With growing lyrical fortitude, lines like “I put out my soul they cut me a check; I’m on the trek now I’m up like a vert” rise the same way a Phoenix would as the young rapper reemerges with a new perspective on life.
