Yesterday, beloved Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist NNAMDÏ’ was announced as support on the upcoming Wilco & Sleater Kinney tour and today he’s released a new track from his magnificent forthcoming LP BRAT. The central theme of the album- NNAMDÏ’s most introspective and mature LP to date-is poignantly expressed in the album’s most playful track “Gimme Gimme”. It sums up BRAT’s complex exploration of the distinction between wants and needs with a ubiquitous childlike expression. “Gimme Gimme” is an acknowledgment that we sometimes also need the things we want, and vice versa.
NNAMDÏ says “The beat was originally titled BRAT. I free-styled a lot of lines and chopped them down into what you hear in the song. I was already leaning towards an album title regarding wants and needs before I finished this track, but the jovial, almost childlike energy I felt in the studio recording this song really solidified my decision to name the album BRAT.”
In addition to the Wilco & Sleater Kinney tour you can catch NNAMDÏ’ on his own solo tour in support of the forthcoming album. See below for full dates.
