Max B releases a solo compilation of his fan favorites with the addition of two new tracks. One of the new tracks, “Phenomenon”, is produced by Max’s long-time collaborator, Dame Grease, who’s responsible for the production on Max’s classics “Live Comfortable,” “Where Do I Go (BBQ Music)”, “Dead Solver,” and “Money Makes Me Feel Better.”
Max B on The Run Homeboy Run track: “The Run Homeboy Run concept was wild…My brother VIP just started making beats he went out and spent his own money on equipment and started customizing beats just for me and he just went in the cut and practiced for like 2 years before even letting me hear a beat…Finally after two years he sent me Tracklist and “Run Home Boy Run” was third one I did from his package…”
Deeper concept on The Run Homeboy Run track according to Max B,
“VIP and me both were born and raised in Harlem from Lenox ave so everytime I hear a track of VIP it just gives me a street feel and when I heard the beat I just kept hearing the sirens…The connection is gonna flow organic cause we thinking the same thing, we catching the same vibes cause we from the same streets, and we family so it all goes together and they say family and business don’t mix lol I believe in some cases that’s not true, if someone is qualified to do a job they should have a shot just like everyone else…Its for the streets 139th and Lenox shout out to VIP and the whole Lenox Ave 140th RIP BIG L’, Huddy Combs, Reggie White, Big Lee, all them boys we keeping it in the trenches…Tryna keep that NY sound in the game…”
The detainment of Max B left a vast opening in the core of New York City road rap that has as of late felt like it’s mending with the development of voices like A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Dave East. Both show up on Max B’s 2019 release House Money, the primary authority solo task Max has recorded since being condemned to 75 years in 2009.
The more youthful weapons join OG partners like Cam’ron and French Montana just as superfans Wiz Khalifa and A$AP Ferg for a greeting back (to the rap game) party that highlights Max loosening up that mark nasal performing voice (“So Cold,” “Never Change”) while distinctively relating his undertakings in the lanes (“Take My Time,” “Farewell”).
