Last week, hip-hop fans across the tri-state area flooded New York City’s Radio City Music Hall for a one-night only event with legendary 90s hip-hop label LOUD Records on the night of its 25th Anniversary. Founders Steve Rifkind and Rich Isaacsonengineered “The LOUD Experience” to celebrate the label’s massive success, fans, artists, and music produced over the last 25 years.
The LOUD Experience extended a star-studded concert to fans featuring artists from the celebrated LOUD roster with a lineup that included performances from legendary multi-platinum selling, Wu-Tang Clan, the prolific and platinum-selling Mobb Deep, the revolutionary dead prez,a special tribute performance from Fat Joe, and more.
The night of nostalgia kicked off with performances by Dead Prez and Xzibit, who dedicated the last song of his set to the late Kobe Bryant. Back to back surprises were delivered throughout the night with elite hip-hop producer and DJ Pete Rock serving as a bridge in between sets, keeping the crowd going with 90s hits. Founder, Steve Rifkind took to the stage midway through the night in a speech on what LOUD means to him. Rifkind was followed by a “Fallen Soldier” tribute, highlighting one of Loud’s original signees, the late Bronx-rapper Big Pun, lead by Fat Joe and surprise guests Remy Ma, Busta Rhymes, and Lil’ Kim.
To end the memorable night, Wu-Tang Clan came out with a remarkable and prodigious performance. Their performance included legendary hits such as, Mary J. Blige’s “All I Need” and Redman’s “Da Rockwilder,” which elevated Wu’s already triumphant set. RZA thanked Loud Records founder, Steve Rifkind, and noted Wu was the first act from the label to go platinum. The Radio City house eventually cut the Wu’s microphones off just past midnight, bringing a raucous show to an end.
