After achieving significant success individually, they decided it was time to return to the foundation. Stylz (also known as rapper Styliztik Jones) and Wells (prod/rapper, J. Wells) have both had a hand in major hip-hop records the last several years.
Wells a multi-platinum Grammy-nominated producer has produced for several of the biggest names in music including (Snoop Dogg, Rakim, Kurupt, Goodie Mob, Keyshia Cole, T.I., Too Short and many more) and Styliztk Jones (Stylz) began his career battle rapping on Sway & Tech’s The Wake Up Show alongside Mistah Fab, Kurupt, Will.I.Am and other renowned emcees and began recording and touring with Tha Alkaholiks at an early age and was featured on their Firewater album. Recently Styliztik was featured on Ghostface Killahs’ album The Lost Tapes alongside Big Daddy Kane on “Done It Again.”
On 3-13-20, Stylz & Wells will release their new album, Vibes, one that features Nipsey Hussle, Too Short, Scoe, James Debarge, Big Rube, Stic-man (of Dead Prez) and others. Today,
Today, they premiere their collaboration with the late great Nipsey Hussle “Product Of The Ghetto” (a day after Nip’s Victory Lap album was certified platinum). The track also features former TDE artist Rezee, who also was a recent victim of gun violence when he was murdered in his hometown neighboring city Watts, California. The hook is soulfully delivered by R&B singer Just Liv.
“I met Nipsey around 2009 and we developed a relationship and stayed in touch over the years. We collaborated in 2014 (“Supersonic Pulse”) and on the remix of the track a year or so later. I ran into him in Atlanta in late 2018 and it was the last time we worked together and spoke. I congratulated him on his Grammy nomination and he looked so full of life” J Wells lovingly recalled. “I’m very grateful to have been able to work with Nip, to be inspired by Nip, and I pray the song brings some motivation to all and some healing to his family. RIP NIP.”
“This song is powerful, just like Nipsey. It’s an honor to be a part of something so heartfelt” Stylz asserted. “Unfortunately, two of the artists that are featured on “Product Of The Ghetto” are no longer here in the physical. They both left us too soon, but on the bright side, this song will be a small piece of the positive energy they left here for everybody.”
Stylz & Wells Vibes album will be released on 3-13-20.
