MBNel Pens Vulnerable, Heartfelt Letter To Unborn Daughter In New Video "Dear Jhené," Ahead Of New Album, ‘Born To Win’

MBNel, of Stockton, CA, has released his latest music video “Dear Jhené,” which stands as the lead single to his forthcoming project Born To Win, via Bay Area gatekeeper EMPIRE, due out November 15. The new visual was premiered on HipHopDX, and finds Nel in the studio penning an emotional open-letter to his unborn daughter, Jhené. On this track, we find a different attitude in Nel, who showcases his vulnerability, expressing his heartfelt and unconditional love for his baby girl.

While he’d previously “take the risk” for his close friends, on his latest single, the Stockton, CA native says he’d rethink it; factoring in his unborn, and adding that he’d instead give his life for her, even if it included doing “100 years [in prison], and a hundred plus.” For Jhené, his “motivation,” the first-generation Filipino recording artist wants to better himself and stay out of the streets. He pens how she’s already begun to “turn him into a man,” making him think of his decisions more carefully, even though the two have yet to meet.

In addition to “Dear Jhené,” Nel’s upcoming 15-track album Born To Win, is set to feature Bay Area rappers Mozzy and Lil Bean, and Florida artists Teejay3k and Lil Poppa. Prior to his impending release, where Nel intends to expand his sound, the rapper garnered major success with his biggest hit “In My City” (over 5.1M views and 1.4M streams) and his $tupid Young collaborative effort “On Me” (over 4.8M views and 1M streams).
