Girl Talk – aka musician/producer Gregg Gillis – and Young Nudy have collaborated on a new single and video, “No Problem.” The track came together quickly when Gillis met with Nudy at Stankonia Studiosin Atlanta. The minimal, icy synths and rattling 808s compliment an experimental freewheeling vocal performance. “I was really into the hook-free and linear structure of the whole song,” says Gillis. “Over the course of the track, Nudy’s vocals mutate into an eerie, raspy tone. I ended up drastically editing the beat after the session, keeping the production minimal to highlight his evolving, unconventional cadence.” There was additional production on the track from Gillis’ longtime friend and collaborator Joe Williams. The “No Problem” video was shot by T Money in Atlanta, and features digital effects byMachine Age.
In addition to playing concerts and festivals across the globe, Girl Talk has spent the last couple of years working with a wide-range of artists, most recently with T-Pain on his single “Getcha Roll On,” which features Tory Lanez. Other collaborations have included “Trouble In Paradise” with Erick The Architect,Smoke DZA‘s “The Hook Up” featuring Dom Kennedy and Cozz, 24hr‘s “Bubble” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Wiz Khalifa‘s “Steam Room,” and Don Q‘s “Lil Bitch.” Gillis comments, “I’ve been a fan of all of these different artists prior to collaborating with them. After spending so many years making music alone and being in control of every creative decision, it’s been liberating working with others and attempting to create something wholly unique with them.”
