Yesterday, Stephen Curry and athletes from the SC30 Select Camp had a full day of activities from 3 point shoot outs, 3v3 competition, film breakdowns and skill work, to a community giveback event in East Oakland.
This year’s roster of SC30 Select Camp participants includes top players from across the country, one of whom earned his spot this past fall during Stephen’s Underrated Tour, Powered by Rakuten. Quadry Adams caught Stephen’s eye and was invited to attend the SC30 Select Camp after an impressive showing.
3 point shoot outs, 3v3 competition, film breakdowns and skill work provided campers with guidance and insights to help develop their game alongside their peers, and a three-time World Champion and two-time NBA MVP. Seven girls are on court this year – including the return of class of 2021 guard Azzi Fudd and class of 2020 forward Cameron Brink – and they collectively brought the heat, winning two of the four competition-based shooting drills. Class of 2020 point guard Paige Bueckers even went shot for shot with Stephen himself, nearly beating out the best long range shooter in the game.
A testament to the power of community, SC30 Select campers then joined Stephen for a vibrant celebration and opening of the refurbished basketball court at Concordia Park in East Oakland. This story began with a Tweet from an Oakland resident seeking help from the community to breathe life back into the court that was missing a hoop and had cracked, uneven pavement.
Following Day 2 of training and competition sessions, Stephen enlisted Paul Winsper, VP of Under Armour Athlete Performance, and Michael Watts, Senior Manager of Athlete Performance, to deliver a message of holistic training and recovery to the athletes – a mindset Stephen has personally adopted and encouraged the campers to integrate into their training, as well. The session included a walk-through of a pop-up recovery space for each of the athletes to experience personalized attention during their time off-court at camp.
Under Armour has outfitted the players with pairs of a Curry 3 Zer0 III halo and ash gray colorway and a black, white and metallic gold Curry 6 colorway available for limited release on UA.com. A teal with floral print Curry 6 custom colorway for game day will drop August 16 at 10 am ET via the UA Shop App.
There’s more to come from the East Bay as the players continue to learn from the best in Stephen’s adoptive hometown. To see the full 2019 SC30 Select Camp roster, view the announcement story here.
