Today, esteemed rapper and entrepreneur A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie debuts his highly anticipated music video for his 2x-platinum single “Swervin” off his sophomore album Hoodie SZN, which is now certified platinum in Canada and the US.
The video depicts the chase and admiration for a love interest through varying scenes of A Boogie ‘swervin’ into scenarios to get the girl. In the opening frame, he is on an airplane that suddenly goes up in flames just as the beat drops. Then, the video pans to him sitting in a mock-up store staring at his love interest and admiring her. A Boogie goes on to praise the girl, “How you look so perfect on your worst days? / Double C your purses, you deserve it,” narrating the scene where he’s locking eyes with his love interest in a dimly lit living room. The camera pans to him swerving in-and-out of different scenarios, catching a 360 view of him, creating optical illusions.
One of the last frames has A Boogie squatting in the midst of a rainstorm, posing with his hands and showcasing his signature hoodie look, drawing a parallel to his Hoodie SZN album cover. He’s positioned in front of a wall with graffiti tags such as “Hoodie SZN,” “Trap,” and “HBTL,” which shows his passion for his music and self-founded record label “HighBridge.” In the final clip, he’s in a blizzard where he finally gets the girl.
“Swervin’ is the final video I’ll be releasing from Hoodie SZN. It’s a thank you to all my fans for propelling Hoodie SZN to number 1,” said A Boogie. “I’m currently working on Artist 2.0 and I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
To date, A Boogie’s critically acclaimed Hoodie SZN, which spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 200 and top 10 for 16 consecutive weeks, is certified platinum in both the US and Canada; along with his hit track “Look Back At It,” which made it to #1 at both Urban & Rhythm formats, is certified platinum in the US and Canada. He recently performed the hit single at the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards where he won an award for Top R&B and Hip-Hop Song for his featured role on “Pills and Automobiles.” Continuing the momentum, his singles “Demons & Angels” and “Startender feat. Offset & Tyga” are now gold-certified. Along with a successful album release, A Boogie sold out 26 shows for over 50,000 fans during his Monster Outbreak Tour: A Boogie vs. Artist.
