New league, new team, no problem, for Joe Johnson – who was named Player of the Week today after taking the BIG3 by storm in opening weekend action. Johnson, a seven-time NBA All-Star, proved why he was named captain in his debut season, accounting for 27 points,16 rebounds and 4 assists and helping lead the Triplets to a 50-40 victory in Week 1.
With the game on the line, the veteran lived up to his “ISO-Joe” nickname, moving past Aliens defender Brandon Rush and sealing the game with one of his patented floaters.
The win was the first for the newly minted Triplets, as well as Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer and first-time head coach, Lisa Leslie. Johnson, Leslie and the Triplets head to Charlotte this Saturday to take on the league’s 2017 champions, the Trilogy. Saturday’s lineup of games start at 12:00 p.m. on CBS.
