As one of the leading coastal conservation organizations in the US, Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) has led by actions and has done this today through the announcement of eliminating single-use plastic water bottles from all points of sale on premise and replacing with an environmentally friendly option, JUST Water. CMA is solely dedicated to preserving the environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of marine life.
CMA focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of marine life, and has first-hand knowledge of the devastating effects plastic has upon sea animals and their habitat. The elimination of single-use plastic water bottles at Clearwater Marine Aquarium will have a significant, wildlife saving impact on the environment by reducing the amount of plastic waste by over 100,000+ single-use plastic bottles in just one year.
Aquarium guests now have the option to purchase JUST Water – a 100% recyclable, paper-based carton filled with 100% responsibly sourced spring water from upstate New York. The JUST carton is made from 82% renewable resources, leaving behind a much smaller carbon footprint than bottles made entirely of plastic or aluminum. The carton is composed primarily of responsibly sourced paper from managed forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and plant-based bioplastic cap made from sugarcane. The company is a Certified B-Corp, a strong testament to its commitment of using business as a force of good, and recently won “Best Packaging Solution” Award at the 2018 Global Bottled Water Congress, notably for the environmental and progressive container.
