Today, Maryland native rapper BBY Goyard announces his upcoming EP Depth Perception coming April 26th via Payday Records (available now for iTunes Pre-order here) with the drop of his brand new track “Wild Thing.” This marks the rapper’s third release on Payday since his January drop of “90210 Westwood,” which gained attention from the likes of XXL, HipHopZilla, and Modern Life Magazine, and the re-release of his Soundcloud hit “Run Shannon Run” that has amassed over 225K Spotify streams to date.
On “Wild Thing,” BBY Goyard returns to rapping, and as his fans have come to expect, his lyrics stay true to his infatuation with punchlines, pop culture references, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Opening with distorted zappy chords that bounce above a future trap beat with fast 808’s and thumping bass, the track is ripe for Triller. Throughout the track, electronic filters create an underwater video game sound, mixing the deep cuts of trap beats with the intriguing electronic effect. The vibe is light in the same school as classic southern rap and trap.
Goyard goes on to make references to Zillow, DC Go-Go music, Fat Joe, Family Matters, Dawson’s Creek, Wyatt Earp, and basketball player Shawn Bradley, displaying his wide range of interests and influences.
Goyard weighs in describing the song as “a futuristic trap style track littered with pop culture references, for the people who love everything from Dawson’s Creek to Buffalo Wild Wings.”
