Here Are Some SXSW Events You Might Not Know About

It’s that time of year again, and chances are you’re either headed to or have already arrived in Austin, Texas for SXSW this week, so I would be remiss if I didn’t give you the heads up on two great shows that aren’t to be slept on:

1) Wednesday, March 13 – La’Britney (of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood) joins an All-Star Detroit lineup that includes Sada Baby, FMB DZ, and more for HipHopDX & EMPIRE’s Detroit Takeover. 2) Saturday, March 16 – Jackie Spade (of 2015’s BET Hip-Hop Cypher) headlines the Champion Sound Takeover showcase. Jackie goes on at 7:45PM sharp. Location: 809 E 6th St, Austin, TX 73301. With a name inspired by Jack Spade from Keenen Wayans‘ blaxploitation film I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, Jackie served in the U.S National Guard before finally taking rap serious in 2011.

If you aren’t in Austin this week or just can’t make either of these shows for whatever reason, both La’Britney and Jackie Spade have solid projects out now that you can check out, if you haven’t already.

Jackie’s Aurafication is a cool nod to the ethos of Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa, while carving a sound and identity all its own.
