On Friday night, TAO Downtown in New York City was transformed into an abandoned, jungle military base complete with a helicopter installation and overgrown entryway, to celebrate The Weeknd’s birthday with Rémy Martin headlining the exclusive, private party. Guests were instructed to arrive dripping in camo, urged by the guest of honor, The Weeknd, and girlfriend Bella Hadid who arrived hand in hand after posting multiple photos on Instagram of their fatigues. Fellow XO artists Belly and Nav and XO founder/manager Cash joined The Weeknd upon arrival and posed for a few group photos before heading down into the military base to kick off the party. Bella’s mother Yolanda Hadid was one of the first guests to arrive, and waited for her daughter and man of the hour in a roped off VIP area directly under the helicopter’s blade.
Coming off New York Fashion Week, fellow models Candice Swanepoel, Shanina Shaik, Jasmine Tookes, and Lameka Fox joined Bella at TAO Downtown for The Weeknd’s special birthday celebration, toasting to a successful week on the runway as they snapped selfies together. Paris Hilton, decked out in theme with a short camo skirt and camo jacket, later joined the group of supermodels after she snapped a few photos in front of the XO birthday sign.
The DJ booth, set against TAO Downtown’s infamous Quan Yin statue with revolving military symbols, became the focal point of the entire party. DJs Kerwin Frost and Metro Boomin kept the energy high throughout the party with Young Thug and Swizz Beatz even taking over the mic at times to wish The Weeknd a happy birthday and select the next hit to play. It wasn’t long after he arrived that The Weeknd joined the action on stage. Bottle parades of Rémy Martin and a three-tiered camo cake made its way to the DJ booth to usher in The Weeknd’s 28th year. The Weeknd was seen sharing drinks from a personalized, leather adorned bottle of Rémy Martin X.O. around, embossed with ‘XO’ on one side and ‘Happy Birthday The Weeknd’ on the other, even posting it to his Instagram story, along with other special moments throughout the party.
Rémy Martin was the quintessential host offering savored bespoke cocktails to guests throughout the night that were specially tailored to The Weeknd’s birthday celebration including “Pray For Me” – a Rémy X.O. frozen shot, “Starboy” – a classic sidecar with Rémy VSOP, and “X.O./The Host” – a classic old fashioned with Rémy Martin X.O.
Other notable guests at The Weeknd’s Birthday at TAO Downtown with Rémy Martin included Casanova, Slick Woods, Sofia Jamora, Gregg Bello and Dapper Dan.
