The BIG3 has released the official name for its third expansion team, Bivouac, also known as an army of ants (logo and uniform mockups). BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube is the creative force behind all of the league’s team names and this video helps to illustrate his inspiration behind the unique new name below.
“A bivouac is an army. An army without a home. Traveling from land to land, making a home wherever they roam.” – Ice Cube
This month, BIG3 also announced that the league is expanding from 8 teams to 12 and shared that Lisa Leslie will be the head coach of Triplets (logo and uniform mockups). We also announced the name of the second expansion team – Aliens (logo and uniform mockups).
In addition to four new teams, the league will now:
- Move to two nights of games per week (each team only playing once)
- Lower the player age minimum from 30 to 27
- Require players to have NBA or professional international basketball experience (previously, only former NBA players were eligible)
