Global sports brand PUMA and Abel Tesfaye a.k.a. The Weeknd reunite to launch the second edition of the PUMA X XO AW’ 18 collection. Continuing with the theme Homage to the Archive, the brand’s creative collaborator and ambassador recreates archival PUMA styles with a contemporary twist.Bold splashes of color and a distinct ‘90s flavor underpins The Weeknd’s approach to the latest PUMA x XO collab. With a penchant for weaving together diverse influences and creating something wholly his own, the entire collection comes to life with exaggerated fits, of-the-hour lines and structuring.
The second drop features the PUMA x XO Terrains in a brand-new Pebble colorway. A throwback to the ever-so-popular 90’s streetstyle, he tactfully brings forth his affinity to create statement pieces in these low-top sneakers that are sure to make moves. A fresh take on vintage PUMA silhouette, its smooth suede upper sits atop a black stacked midsole with a distinctive, serrated center piece.
Drawing upon the 90’s logo mania, the collection does homage right with a complete range of apparel and accessories decked with multiple renditions of the PUMA x XO graphics. From crushed velour to destroyed denim – The Weeknd knows a thing or two about standout jackets. The Homage to the Archive Outerwear features PUMA x XO worldwide logos on the left chest and back, while various PUMA x XO badges run down both sleeves, placed between contrasting piping details. Homage to the Archive Tracktop and Tackpant makes a bold statement with the classic PUMA T7 style rendered with contrasting splices of colors.
The PUMA x XO collection first made waves in 2017 when the highly anticipated launch drop was sold out in stores worldwide. Known for his military-inspired styling, The Weeknd has broken the monotony of streetstyle with looks that personify his take on everyday essentials.
