Today, The Alliance of American Football unveiled the official uniforms created by Starter, through G-III Sports, a Division of G-III Apparel Group, Ltd., for all eight teams. Uniform jerseys will be showcased for the first time at tonight’s “Protect or Pick” QB Draft, live from Las Vegas on CBS Sports Network at 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm PT, and across the eight local team markets at their respective watch parties.
The official Starter uniforms, manufactured through G-III Sports, feature the color combinations and sublimated designs specifically chosen for each Alliance team and include fabrics used by the Starter brand years ago that have been reengineered for today’s football generation. These uniforms also feature stretch characteristics and twill used in the torso and numbers allowing for a professional, modern fit.
On Monday, Riddell and The Alliance announced a multi-year partnership bringing the latest in football helmet technology and protective equipment to the new league and its players. The Alliance will be using helmets from Riddell’s SpeedFlex and Speed platforms, which have a proven track record of delivering on-field protection and performance. Both helmets include several protective features and receive the best available 5-STAR rating from Virginia Tech. Alliance players will also use Riddell’s CPX and SPX shoulder pads, which are popular with elite athletes.
In celebration of this historic jersey unveil, The Alliance will release limited edition jerseys at 9:00pm ET on https://aaf.com/shop/. These jerseys were specially designed and manufactured for The Alliance uniform launch and will only be available in limited, first run quantities. Each jersey will feature the number 1 with the team’s city name on the back nameplate, team logo on each sleeve and Alliance inaugural season logo on the left chest, side details and jock tag in the lower left.
Team Color Palettes
Orlando Apollos: Inspired by Apollo, the Greek god of sun, the sunshine state’s new professional football franchise is a glowing testament to the power, imagery and energy made possible by the sun. The Orlando Apollos’ colors – navy blue, dark orange and bright orange – are reflective of the warm Florida sunshine.
Atlanta Legends: Atlanta is where legends are made. The Atlanta Legends will sport purple, gold and white — colors that represent rich heritage, tradition and royalty, further represented by the crown logo.
Birmingham Iron: The Birmingham Iron’s colors – black, dark grey and light grey – are derived from the three elements needed to make steel, Iron Ore, Coal and Flux. The logo, a stylized football, pays tribute to the passionate football fans of Alabama.
Memphis Express: Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River, Memphis is the birthplace of Rock and Roll and home to the nation’s largest cargo airport. A uniquely American city, The Memphis Express will be represented by an unmistakably American color palette of red, white and blue.
San Antonio Commanders: The Commanders’ colors feature maroon, a color common to San Antonio and used in the official logo of the city, silver, in reference to dress military swords carried by officers, and the familiar red of the Texas state flag.
Arizona Hotshots: The Arizona Hotshots colors are inspired by the uniforms worn by most hotshot crews — forest green, orange and golden yellow, while the crossed axes are depicted as “pulaskis,” a cutting and digging tool used by these heroic men and women.
San Diego Fleet: Unique to professional sports, The San Diego Fleet will sport the anthracite grey of the US Navy’s Pacific fleet, battleship gray of the iconic Navy ships, and sun yellow, representative of San Diego’s endless sunshine.
Salt Lake Stallions: The Salt Lake Stallions colors – sky blue, royal blue and silver – are inspired by the reflection of the vast blue sky off of the great salt lake and the silver tips of the Wasatch Mountains. The logo is inspired by car hood ornaments and automotive indicia that adorns some of history’s fastest and most famous cars.
The Alliance of American Football will take its first snap on February 9, 2019 on CBS. For more information, or to purchase season tickets for as low as $75, visit aaf.com.
