Grammy-nominated artist Anderson .Paak remains at the top of the list of rappers running the new generation of hip-hop. Coming from Cali, he has given us a classic talent that we rarely see within rappers. After releasing his electrifying new single ‘Tints’ with Kendrick Lamar, we await his next project, Oxnard which is set to drop on November 16th. He’s a drummer, singer and rapper all in one and caught the attention of Aftermath boss, Dr. Dre who signed him to his aftermath label.
“Tints” is the 3rd time K-Dot and Anderson have linked up for a funky track. Check out some of the catchy lyrics below.
B***h, I’m Kendrick Lamar, respect me from afar
I was made in His image, you call me a god
Everybody in attendance, I’m about to perform
Everybody get offended by the s*** I got on
Like, can you buy that, n***a?
Nine hunnid horse, can you drive that, n***a?
A G5, can you fly that, n***a?
“She wanna hold me like a ransom,” Anderson .Paak tunes. “But the bag keep me running.”
We got a chance to catch up with Anderson at the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards and he talked about his single with K-Dot & more.
Get into the interview below.
RESPECT.: Is this your first time at the BET Hip-Hop Awards?
AP: Yes, I think so at the hip-hop awards, yeah!
You just dropped your new single ‘Tints’ with Kendrick. Are you liking the feedback from that release?
It’s going really good. I’m really happy with the responses, my Spotify is looking good and like everywhere, everybody seems to love it. So I’m living life right now.
Lil Wayne is the recipient of the ‘I am Hip-Hop’ honoree award tonight, what can you say he’s influenced within hip-hop?
Easily, his output man that dude was going in with the mixtapes and putting out so much material and I think he’s kind of paved the way for that whole process of it being about putting out content. He was putting out great content at his best pace and let alone the style and the look and everything that he possess. He’s a veteran in the game, he’s just a legend.
