To celebrate the Suede’s 50th run, PUMA has tapped into creatives, designers, and artists to put their spin on the iconic sneaker. Turning up another level, PUMA collaborates with ambassador, Grammy-award winning artist and creative partner to give the Suede his own interpretation.
A sneakerhead himself, The Weekend (also known as Abel Tesfaye), has been collecting kicks since his heydays in Toronto. He knows a thing or two about timeless design and the Suede is definitely in his all-time sneaker list.
The Suede 50 PUMA x XO is a remix of the iconic silhouette and The Weeknd’s sexy, edgy sound. He pays homage to the legend by delivering a mid-cut boot with a military feel. Available in three colorways, the contemporary design is clean yet gritty. Instead of laces, there are buckle straps wrapping around the toe and ankle of the shoes. “19” sits at the center of one tongue, “68” at the other, paying homage to the year the Suede was born. Each sole is speckled like concrete.
The black boot is fully monochromatic plush Suede atop a speckled gum sole. The glacier gray is all gray everything with silver metallic buckles on the straps and a gray speckled sole. The black and white boot goes wild with the black suede upper wrapped in white straps and metallic black buckles. Not only does the white Formstrip jump against the black, it pops atop a thick white sole with black speckles.
