Atlanta was bumping for the BIG3 as a 11,216 fans filled the 11,600 capacity Infinite Energy Arena to watch Power lock up the No. 1 seed for the BIG3 Playoffs.
Friday night’s games solidified the playoff bracket. Power sewed up the top spot and will take on Tri-State while No. 2 seed 3 Headed Monsters will do battle with 3’s Company. Power earns the top seed by virtue of its win in Week 7 while 3’s Company slides into the No. 3 spot thanks to its victory over Tri-State in Week 6.
Ghost Ballers’ Ricky Davis pours in 15 to earn scoring championship, including a 4-pointer to edge Power’s Corey Maggette by 3. 3 Headed Monsters’ Reggie Evans wraps up rebounding crown while Tri-State’s David Hawkins wins assists title. The Ghost Ballers will play the Ball Hogs for seventh place next Friday.
2017 Champion Trilogy earns revenge win in heated battle against Tri-State, who delivered Trilogy its first-ever loss in 2018 Week 1. Killer 3s opened the night with an upset of the playoff-bound 3’s Company. The Killer 3s will take the court against Trilogy in Dallas to play for fifth place.
The near-capacity crowd was treated to incredible performances throughout the night. 3 Headed Monsters’ Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf racks up 21 points on 10-13 while Reggie Evans fell one assist shy of the league’s first triple double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists.3’s Company Jason Maxiell had a huge putback slam in the first game and Power’s Chris Birdman Andersen closed the night with a thunderous dunk on the last play. Trilogy’s Al Harrington had a double-double and was one of four on the team with double-digit points. Ghost Baller Ricky Davis’ 4-pointer made the difference in the scoring title.
Atlanta showed up with a star-studded crowd to close out the regular season. In attendance alongside BIG3 Co-Founder & Co-CEO Ice Cube were hip-hop megastars Jermaine Dupri, 2 Chainz, Wale, Yung Joc, DC Young Fly, DJ Hurricane and Da Brat and sporting royalty TNT analyst Chris Webber, NBA TV analyst Dennis Scott, Super Bowl champion and Georgia Bulldogs legend Champ Bailey, Atlanta Hawk Taurean Prince, former NBA stars Antonio Davis and Dale Ellis, Super Bowl champion Deon Grant, Former Falcon and Walter Payton Man of the Year Warrick Dunn as well as comedy legend Katt Williams.
On Thursday, adidas and BIG3 hosted the league’s Young3 community outreach initiative at the Salvation Army Bellwood Boys & Girls Club in Atlanta, GA. 3 Headed Monsters’ Jamario Moon and more were on hand to spend time with the kids who were treated to day of skills clinics and three-on-three tournaments. During the day, the Young3 visited multiple Atlanta schools to speak about the importance of education, health and fitness, and hard work.
On Thursday morning, Power guard Ricky Davis, the Ricky Davis Legacy Foundation, and BIG3 players including Mario West, Robert Hite, David Hawkins, and Dion Glover visited Fountain of Hope Food Bank and several homeless encampments throughout the city of Atlanta to deliver much-needed fresh produce and toiletries.
