Global sports brand PUMA get season appropriate and release one of their most beloved Tennis silhouettes from their storied archive – the PUMA California. A style born out of the courts in 1983 by way of Argentine grand slam champ Guillermo Vilas, it soon found its way to the streets and switched to a new moniker after the sunshine-loving state. Its laid back style and iconic form has enshrined it in sneaker history.
From it competition heydays, the California’s low-slung design and thick sole was impossible to wear down while the external arch support provided support for the foot at every possible angle. With an upper comprised of nubuck and leather with metallic details, the California was a hit, performance and looks-wise. With its return as a sport-turned-classic, the California retains its easy and low key vibe but with a streamlined profile and new colorways.
This season, PUMA release the California in women’s iterations starting with the California Exotic, worn by Selena Gomez. Boasting a clean tone-on-tone white palette and a black metallic ash version. Whether you’re going for a leisurely walk on the Santa Monica boardwalk in the day or hitting the West Hollywood clubs at night, you can be 100% looking and feeling your most chilled self. The California Exotic Women’s drops in selected sneaker boutiques, PUMA.com and PUMA stores worldwide on August 2.
Be on the lookout for future California drops in the coming months.
