Everyone knows all too well the difficulties of getting samples cleared. Even having the support of a major label is sometimes not enough and many artists are prevented from releasing uncleared material. Such was not the case with Bronx rapper Prince Pyligmy. The NY native and hip-hop (insert word) was privy to a sample clearance for his record “Classic” that borrows an assist from one of the greatest records of all time. However, Prince Pyligmy is no stranger to making great things happen. In a very short time, the NY rapper has managed to create chatter throughout the hip-hop community, culminate a solid fan base that’s constantly growing, and catch the attention quite a major recording labels while building with some of the industry’s most celebrated artists.
And now, the “Classic” emcee is paying homage to hip-hop with a full-length feature project that boasts dual sides that show respect to the early pioneers of hip-hop culture when most projects were distributed via cassette tapes and reflected twp sides that usually had two completely different, but equally cool sounds.
On his Side A + Side B project, Prince Pyligmy offers a versatility seldom heard or seen in hip-hop these days. This project is what true hip-hop historians and connoisseurs have been waiting for. Prince Pyligmy is definitely an artist to watch. He’s etching out his place in music and if you pay close enough attention, you’ll see an emcee of legendary proportions unfolding right before your very eyes. The full-length Side A + Side B project(released June 1st), is now available on Spotify.
